    Resveratrol: Resveratrol chemical synthesis

    January 11th, 2010 by admin

Many of us still wonder what resveratrol is and how it is manufactured for laboratory purposes. Resveratrol is a phytoalexin produced by plants when under attacks by pathogens like bacteria and fungi. Scientists have found out that this chemical substance has many health benefits, which can immensely benefit you in terms of optimizing your health and keeping infectious diseases away. To get enough amounts to conduct research and further tests, scientists use a procedure called chemical synthesis to produce amounts of resveratrol that can help in their research.Other sources of resveratrol are plants like the Japanese knotweed, which is abundant in Japan. This plant has high levels of Resveratrol prompting researchers to use it as their primary source of Resveratrol. However, chemical synthesis has become a respite. Researchers are able to produce enough Resveratrol to conduct studies on various specimens to evaluate the benefits of Resveratrol and its medicinal values.
